Robert McDuffie

Robert McDuffie is an Emmy Award-winning and Grammy-nominated violinist whose dynamic career spans five continents and a wide range of musical collaborations—from major symphony orchestras to artists like R.E.M.’s Mike Mills and Rolling Stones pianist Chuck Leavell. Composer Philip Glass dedicated The American Four Seasons to McDuffie, who has performed it over 100 times worldwide. In 2023, he earned an Emmy for A Night of Georgia Music, currently airing on PBS.

A native of Macon, Georgia, McDuffie is the founder of the Rome Chamber Music Festival in Italy and the Robert McDuffie Center for Strings at Mercer University. His latest recording, Icons, with pianist Elizabeth Pridgen, features works by Glass, Corigliano, and Adams. He performs on a 1735 Guarneri del Gesù violin, the “Ladenburg.”

William Ransom

William Ransom is a celebrated pianist, master teacher, and Artistic Director known for his international performances as a soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician. He has appeared in major venues across the U.S., Europe, Asia, and South America—including Carnegie Hall, Chicago’s Orchestra Hall, and the National Gallery in D.C.—and has performed for American ambassadors in five countries. His recordings span works by Strauss, Brahms, Chopin, and contemporary composers like Stephen Paulus and Dwight Andrews.

A Boston native, Ransom studied at The Juilliard School and the University of Michigan. He is the Mary L. Emerson Professor of Piano at Emory University and founder of the Emory Chamber Music Society of Atlanta. He has shared the stage with musical greats including Yo-Yo Ma, Robert McDuffie, and Dave Brubeck. He also serves as Artistic Director for the Highlands-Cashiers and Juneau Jazz & Classics festivals and was named one of Musical America’s “30 Musical Innovators.”
